Alone Together XIV (detail), 2018. After making almost an entire series in horizontal format, during my last visit to Hong Kong I felt I could try a vertical format as well. The result is as intense as I hoped it would be: the verticality of the work forces the viewer to look up and strongly recalls the feeling of being faced with a high-rise building. I will be showing this and four more works from the Alone Together series in my upcoming solo show at Art Central Hong Kong @artcentralhk, opening next week. Alone Together IX (detail), 2017. The more I research about urban isolation the more I realise the urgency of this issue. In the UK alone there are over a million older people who live in chronic isolation. This means that they are completely or nearly completely cut-off from society. My Alone Together series is largely about this phenomenon, but with an optimistic twist to it. The photo here is a close-up detail of a larger work. #endloneliness

Alone Together XII (detail), 2018. It's hard to tell the detail in most of my work if you don't see them from up close. So occasionally I post close-ups, although I don't really like cropping images. Here's a detail from Alone Together XII, the latest addition to the series. It's the first post in a series of three, so watch this space for more.

Alone Together XIII, 2018. The saga continues. Here's a work I created during my self-initiated residency in Hong Kong last May, which resulted in a lot of visual research on the ground and two new large-scale prints depicting the city's sheer density and repetitive patterns. It took me some time to find the right angle for this one in order to achieve that almost imperceptible layering seen on the right half of the work, where a single lit-up window is seen through the solid mass of apartment buildings. A print of this work lands today for the first time in Los Angeles, together with three more works from the Alone Together series. I'll be presenting them with Momentum Fine Art gallery @momentum_fine_art at LA Art Show @laartshow, opening today and running through Sunday. If you're in LA, come and find us at booth 829!
